If you are looking for an impersonal place to stay this is it.The electronic check in is odd. There were overbearing signs posted everywhere, including the rooms, threatening fines greater than the cost of the room for broad rules like a $40 fine for leaving a mess in the kitchen. There were cameras posted everywhere, which is good for security, but it added to the cold "big brother" feel they must be going for. The bunk bed was literally the same model I had as a child, so your feet hang off.

We are sorry that you had such a negative experience with us. Our electronic system self check-in system is in place to reduce the cost of the room for our guests. The signs posted ensure that the building is well maintained for all guests. The cameras are posted to ensure the security of the building for our guests in addition to our other security measures. We have not had any complaints about the size of our beds before, but we are sorry that it was uncomfortable for you. The owner was very nice and helped me getting around Salt Lake City. We went skiing together and had a great time. The hostel itself is fabulous with all the facilities that one needs: clean showers, big beds, great kitchen, food, internet and is 1min away from the free train system that brings you to town! This hostel is extremely clean and safe. After looking at some of the other hostels in the area with scary reviews, I was very glad to have found this place. I could not have asked for nicer 'budget accommodations', it was cleaner than some hotels I've stayed at. This is a family run business and they were all very nice and helpful. I liked the self check in and the staff was pleasant and went out of their way to help me every time I called or asked for assistance. Also a great location, half a block from the train! close to airport, but it had no heater. and outside was -5degree. i couldnt sleep well because it was too cold. and i called the staff, but nobody answered. if it was summer, would be good to stay. idont recommend for staying during winter unless the heater is on. maho, from Japan ~ 23rd Dec 2011

It's fine, just a little too many signs saying what not to do, and fines for not following exact instructions, like they're doing you such a favor to stay here.

I took care of my disabled brother so he could stay at the Hostel during a family reunion in SLC and Arthur was very flexible when I explained the circumstances and extended the stay beyond the original two days. Arthur was very helpful. During the entire stay, I my brother was safe and secure. Camelot is a clean environment with many bathrooms and very supportive kitchens. In my work as an analyst, I've stayed at five star rated luxury Hotels that cost my company hundreds of dollars per night and I'd have to say the Camelot Inn had more amenities available to my brother than I'd ever saw. The automated system was very simple to follow, the environment there was clean, safe and comfortable. I didn't spend much time during the day at the hostel but at night, it was a peaceful place. The other guest, a lady who stays right next to the kitchen, was sweet and helpful. To be honest... I enjoyed my stay and will definitely recommend it to my friends. Eliani S. (8S) Fance
