Compared with all the wonderful hostels we have stayed in throughout South America this one was a real disappointment. Tiny limited access up noisy metal stairs, dark windowless facilities, small cramped rooms. One staff member was great but others appeared uninterested. The day staff is amazing!They are all so helpful and it was so clean. I really enjoyed everything until my last night...The old night guy named Bill kissed me when I was alone in the common room late at night, not only that but when I obviously wasn't into it he kept on persisting and there was a point where he was groping me and I couldn't get him off. It was a horrible way to spend my last night. Go to this hostel, but if your a young girl traveling alone,avoid the chubby 50 year old night guy Sarah, from USA ~ 28th Sep 2011

Un hostal en una calle principal de Botafogo. Por fuera no parece hostal, es simplemente una puerta, no tiene cartel. Son unas instalaciones viejas, 2do y 3er piso. Alojamos en una Suite individual sin ventana, no se realizo aseo de la pieza en los 4 dÃas. Tiene aire acondicionado, wifi, en el comedor, dan desayuno. Todas las instalaciones son antiguas. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a good time in the hostel. it´s clean + nice and very helpfull staff. the rooms were extremly small (stayed in a 4bed dorm) with no windows but a good working aircondition. the showers are warm but pretty small and the breakfast is good standart. overall a nice place for a short visit in rio. The reception staff were quite terse/impatient at times with us when we had travel-related questions.Information about tours offered through the hostel wasn't displayed very obviously - we didn't realize the extent to which you could book tours through the hostel and missed out on a samba school tour that we would have loved to go on because we didn't see a sign about it until it was too late.
