Ace Backpackers Youth Hostel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

felt a bit like a prison at first as we had a room with no window, but then we got moved to another room with a window which was much better. Location is great as it is very near metro station and Sugarloaf mountain. Angela, from England ~ 24th Oct 2009

I stayed in a dorm here for two weeks and didn't even lose a sock. There were always interesting people coming and going, but the dorm was nice and quiet at night. When you arrive in Rio alone, you already have friends when you stay at this hostel. The staff are very cool, and they always seem to know where the party is. Bruno especially is friendly and informative. The girls on the swing shift are very fun, too. Breakfast was good for me, because Americans love that fare for any meal. A hole in the wall that was acceptable but not as good as all the other hostels we stayed in while we were in Brazil. The breakfast was also very rudimentary.

Is there a hole in the wall? HOnestly we have not seen any. Our breakfast is tipically brazilian bread, 1st quality ham and cheese, cake, juices, buiscuits, coffee, milk, tea, etc... rudimentary means bread butter and coffee. That´s all.

Nice staff, but just a really cramped space. Guest kitchen is a joke. Wifi is free but you have to pay for using the PCs? The four person dorm was ridiculously small. We had to put 2 people in one bed and the luggage on the fourth bed! Brett, from Canada ~ 30th Jul 2009

Ace Backpackers is an awesome hostel for people who are looking for partying! Everyone there is super helpful and will show you a good time. Rooms are a little small but other than that, you get everything you wish for. Andres, from Venezuela ~ 15th Jul 2009
