Arenal Backpackers Resort in La Fortuna, Costa Rica

Definitely lives up to its title "the five star hostel of Costa Rica" Ana, from Mexico ~ 24th Jul 2009

I made the mistake of making a reservation for 7 days, please don't do this, they have a strict no refund policy. If i had money to burn on expensive excursions I might enjoy this hostel but since I'm on a tight budget and theres nothing to do in this sleepy tourist town. The lobby shuts down at 10pm as does the internet room so if your a night owl, I reccomend sleeping pills!

When you come to stay with us, please rate our hostel and not the area. La Fortuna is not a party town compared to San Jose, but you can still have a great time here. Even if you can’t afford to spend much, our staff will give you the best advice on what to do, where to go, etc. We have quiet hours in the hostel to respect our guests and we also have areas where you can talk, drink and listen to music until late. Every traveler has different needs – some need to party and some need to sleep. We do our best to make everyone happy!

The Backpackers is right near everything in town and offers very good security. It was clean and had a lot to offer. They also offer a variety of tours that will pick you up from the hostel and bring you back. They will help you find the right tour for what you want to do as well. Jamie, from USA ~ 9th Jul 2009

Great place to stay. All the other guests were super friendly and we had a great time going out on tours and just hanging out at the pool or the bar. One staff guy was awesome, one was kind of a grump. I did not like how there was no soap at any of the bathrooms and they didn't give towels. But otherwise good deal for the money. And ac! Anne, from USA ~ 24th May 2009

What a great hostel!! Loved the staff, the food from the restaurant, the hammocks, the pool, the 8bed dorm...basically it was all amazing!! The reservations for everything we wanted to do was taken care of by the staff and explained well, the hostel was like a nice hotel and I would definitely go back! Hina, from USA ~ 1st Apr 2009
