This hostel is located very close to JR station, which is convenient, and even the noise from trains is not very loud. The room and the hostel itself is very compact, but it's normal for Japanese hostels, so no complaints. Laundry is only from 8am to 8 pm, which was not very pleasant, as we usually walked out earlier and came back later than the stated time, but it was our last city before going back, and we made most of laundry in Kyoto, so we managed with it. This was one of the smaller hostels I stayed at in Japan and enjoyed the atmosphere. The rules that they gave us upon check-in were managed well and made the stay more enjoyable. The location was close to the Osaka JR Loop Line which made it easy to get around. The staff was extremely friendly and helped look up locations for you as well. Bonsai Guesthouse was a great first stop for our Japan trip. The hostel was very clean and the bonsai garden on the roof was gorgeous. The staff are so helpful with lots of tourist information and advice on places to see and things to do. Big thank you to Shuji san (Bonsai Sensai) and Kimchi, who both made are stay so much lovelier. The walls are way too thin had to put up with people being drunk on a Sunday night running up an down the stairs and running across hallways. Does the staff not do anything about this? Also, my room happened to be across the sink and there was someone blowdrying their hair at 4am. Seriously? At the very least there should be hours where you can't blowdry your hair so you don't wake everyone else up. Common sense people. A bit disappointed.
