I booked through this site and then they wrote me an email saying they overbooked me and then asked me to come there to get my deposit back that I paid online. I ended up staying in a hotel and it cost me $$$$. If they are going to use this site, they should be more careful to use it properly. I have not gotten my money back yet. The owner only cares about money.I lost my keys he made me paid 100 Reais which is nearly 100 $US,mind you it only cost 50 cents in US to make a copy. Sebastien who is the morning receptionist seems arrogant and not very friendly at all,then again he is french.The rest of staff are superb. Staff were absolulty amazing and helpful all the time we were stuck in rio for 2 weeks and they made us feel like we were at home. Basic rooms but everything that you need and its very clean. Location is brilliant, right in the heart of Ipanema and very close to the beach. We had a double room, bed very comfortable but large amounts of mould on the walls and room damp. We were there at low season so that is probably why it wasn´t much fun. As for the hostel, its ok but our dorm room had a problem with ants and we got badly bitten by them. The free internet is also useless if you can´t touch type as the numbers had worn off the keys. I asked at reception if they had another keyboard and they just shrugged their shoulders and didn´t do anything about it sy at internet cafe.
