this is a lovely clean fun hostel, the staff were amazing always there to lend a hand, would recomend stopping at castaways if visiting cairns. ohhhh and ther is free internet and shuttle buses into town and ther is also a free wine and cheese nite. loved it would stay again ben, from England ~ 26th Oct 2009

The staff was very nice and helpful with bookings etc. The noise depends on other people staying there, most nights I was there it was quiet but I also had one night where other people were noisy. As expressed on the ratings on this page, our overall impression of staff and the property were good. The young staff (Claire and Louise) were very helpful, courteous and friendly. However, we were misled by false advertising to the effect of free bicycle hire (all bicycles were either missing brakes, pedals, inflatable tubes or chains) and to a lesser extent, the supply of a "free" dinner which consisted of gruel like pasta with an insipid gravy at the Woolshed, which should not pass as a meal Lasantha, from Australia ~ 6th Jul 2009

Nice hostel quiter than usual backpackers but 10times cleaner. 10 minutes walking from town but they give free bikes + free dinner vouchers. The weekly free cheese and vine is great, it's a complete meal. Simona, from Italy ~ 30th Apr 2009
