This was the noisiest place I have ever staid. I had no sleep for four days because of banging doors and construction. Also I booked an airport pick-up and no-one showed. The whole place was very damp, my bed sheets were wet and the room stank. For the price it was terrible ! Paul, from England ~ 8th Oct 2009

The hostel is right in the middle of KuanXiangZi (宽巷子), one of those old China theme parks (complete with Starbucks) that is sprouting up all over China these days. Backpackers looking for a hostel in real "old Chengdu" beware. To be fair I should note that unlike these venues in other cities (e.g. Shanghai's Xintiandi or Beijing's Sanlitun), the penetration by foreigners is pretty marginal. So it's mostly Chinese enjoying a Chinese theme park... and they seem to love it. Tom, from USA ~ 17th Aug 2009

Meimei and her staff were very efficient and understanding. They assisted with many things and we are greateful for their service. The room was clean with great air-con and location is superb. DAVID, from Australia ~ 24th Jul 2009

It's a hostel, still, the bath rooms could be nicer. A personal safety box would be nice as well, and better surf computers. It was quite loud in some the evenings as well. But in the end, this hostel is a "thumbs up", mainly due to the fantasic crew working there, the nice restaurant next door and the location in the alley! Daniel, from Sweden ~ 29th Jul 2009

(Note: I stayed in the 180 kuai single-bed guestroom) Located in perhaps the best spot in Chengdu (a very hip restaurant, bar and cafe street recently built up around the hostel - excellent for a place with a buzz, but could be too commercialized for some), the Dragon Town hostel was fantastic. The bed I was on was the softest I'd ever slept on in China, and bathroom was excellent. If I did have a knock, it would be on the "fun". Not that the bar was not explicitly pro-fun, but the set-u Claiborne, from USA ~ 30th Jun 2009

The hostel is excellent. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Meimei and Lisa - Thank you!!! Only negative is that the 4 person dorms, are small, without windows, but with a bathroom = a damp slightly smelly room. Andrea, from New Zealand ~ 29th May 2009
