El Montanes wasn't really my idea of a hostel, more like a hotel. But the sheets and bathroom were clean, the breakfast was very good and the staff was quite accommodating. It's a bit off the beaten path from central Antigua, so it's quiet and has a nice front garden. There were no other guests while we were there, but it's a small place so you could probably get to know fellow travelers quite easily. My only recommendation is make sure you bring exact change! This was a nice, quiet, out of the way place. It was a little walk away from the Central Park, which we did not mind. Not for folks who want a crazy, in the middle of everything place. The views of volcanoes from our windows were excellent. We loved it. Carmen, the hostess, was so helpful. She went out of her way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.
