We stayed at another hostel in Buenos Aires before and we loved it. This hostel was our first in Uruguay and we were not happy with it. It was very expensive for what you got. The breakfast was just bread, spread and tea. Nothing else. The room was big but a little dirty and no security locker in the room. We got yelled at by the owner because we brought in wine. The location was ok being just outside the old town but there were others that were closer. Would not stay there again. Too busy. Todd, from Canada ~ 4th Nov 2009

It was really quiet and peaceful. Not a whole lot going on (perhaps because it is winter). Not sure what it would be like in the summer. No complaints whatsoever. Brandon, from USA ~ 4th Aug 2009

What a wonderful escape from the city (Buenos Aires) and tantalizing hint of Uruguay Colonia is - and El Viajero fits right in, with its gorgeous, huge, wooden entry doors, interior courtyard, rooftop \"solarium\"- and bike rental in place. And, I could see the stars in the Southern sky at night. I really wish I had planned to stay 2 nights rather than just one. Paige, from Canada ~ 28th Apr 2009

I arrived at the Hostel on a Saturday night, only to be told that the private room I had booked was not available because that weekend was very busy for the hostel. As a result, I ended up in a room for four. The room was on the courtyard where they were having a barbeque just outside the window of the room. The windows were left open all day and the room was full of smoke. The air-condition could not improve the air quality as it was also bringing in smoke from outside. Linens were provided i georgios, from Greece ~ 20th Apr 2009

The rooms are OK, the showers are OK but inundate the bathroom if you are not cautious, it is an old house so some of the rooms are around a patio: it is cold out of summer. The staff is helpful, but some should remember that the guests are the ones that should have fun. Security is lax as in many other places in Uruguay, anybody could enter and take anything. I did not saw recommendations for travellers, what to do, etc. Pablo, from Argentina ~ 16th Apr 2009

Cleanliness was ok but within Southern Americas Average. For the rest it was just a loveley place where I met interesting people & lost my Lonley Planet book, so if anyone finds it... Martin, from Germany ~ 25th Mar 2009
