Guilin Backstreet International Youth Hostel in Guilin, China

People next door to us got their stuffr stolen from their room, the lock did not work. Bathroom had a massive puddle that would not drain and when you showered would leak into the room. The room walls were disgustingly dirty. Overall, we overpaid for a dirty room that smelled bad and we didn't feel secure in. Good thing it was only 1 night. Michelle, from USA ~ 27th Sep 2009

I usually skip over hostels with low rating but i figured i'd give this one a try. Probably the worst hostel i stayed at while in China. The rooms definitely have mold, are poorly laid out with some lockers right next to other beds, not enough outlets and terrible lighting. The only thing this hostel has going for it is its location in Guilin (right by the main walking street). my suggestion, skip this hostel and Guilin all together and held straight to yangshou, which is a much cooler town andrew, from USA ~ 8th Sep 2009

The room was big and well equiped, with the exception of the bathroom, with no window and somewhat stinky. Extremely useful staff and good lounge to sit and talk to people. With the summer rain, the river was flooded and we could not do much! Arnau, from Spain ~ 16th Jul 2009
