Very nice people run the place.beds are very comfy.The private suites look great.They were very forthcoming with info on different things to keep your self busy while there.The out side of the building is scary looking, but the inside is well maitained and fashionable, like that matters but was nice to see. The kitchen facilities are poor, because it's not a real kitchen: it's more a table with a microwave oven and a camping cooker on it. Our double bed private room was clean and lovely. Make sure the volcano is actually doing something before you book a trip to Hilo. Unfortunately I didn't so for one night I was the only one there, then the second there was one other guy. I could see this being a fun hostel if it had people in it though - it has a great common area and free transport to the hostel is a big plus! Benjamin, from Australia ~ 6th Jul 2011
