Hostel Quetzal in Cancun, Mexico

Bon emplacement, et chambre spacieuse et propre, mais assez chaude malgré ventilo et clim. ATTENTION on a failli être victime de SURBOOKING! Et si on avait pas argumenté pendant 20 minutes (en espagnol) on se serait retrouvés sans hotels, et bien sur ce n'était pas de leur faute. Not a bad place to stay if you want to do tours during the day. There is a small gym aroung the corner that costs 50 pesos for a daily visit or 150 for a week. Ask for shark gym. Also, there are plenty of cool, and reasonably priced places to hangout and eat at. Overall I give this place a solid 8, with the only loss in points being beach proximity and difficulty getting out of the constantly locked front gate.

The difficulty of the locked gate is not a problem is actually for the security of our clients, because there was a robbery in our hostel like 1.5 years ago so since we put that gate there hasnt been any other record like that one and theres been a couple tries, but they couldnt pass. One got in but got out in a police car and busted and since then nothing and for the beach location is not easy to get a property right on the beach, but your just 5 mins. from the beach

The room was funny colored and the breakfast was favolous (fresh fruits) The staff soooooooo nice BUT dont book tours in the hostel, they are too expensive compared with other tour organisations. Perfectly located and generally for young people with low buget. Beach not so close but easy accessible with bus and cheap. Good restaurants around.

Be careful booking tours outside the hostel, there are many fly by night tour companies and sellers and they may be cheaper but you will be guaranteed to get ripped off, or have a bad experience as the bus breaks down, or the bus never comes or you get jacked and disappear altogether, SAFETY FIRST. Remember Cancun s hotels and travel agencies have lost 500 million dollars a month in business since the swine flu crisis, MANY PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY, UNEMPLOYED, AND DESPERATE.
