I sometimes found that the front door to the hostel was not shut and locked properly. This is because other guests did not take care to push the door shut fully. Maybe the hostel could add a sign on the door to remind guests to take extra care and make sure the door is shut properly each time they enter or leave the Hostel. We spent about 3 days in JV hostel and it was a fabulous experience. The working staff was more then helpful in helping us organize our trip around taipei. The room we stayed in was great for the price and the location could not be beat since it was right next to a fantastic night market Ilya, from USA ~ 1st Feb 2012

Good area, great staff, nice place to meet other travelers. I hope they can improve on cleanliness (the rooms were fine but the bathrooms were sometimes a bit disgusting), and in the dorms they should introduce a time when the lights should be off and install smaller lamps so that people don't turn on the very bright ceiling lights whenever they come home during the night. This hostel is quite nice. It boasts being voted as one of the best hostels in ASIA. This is either not true, or of an unreliable source. It's a pretty nice hostel, bit it seems pretty standard.
