La Maison du Patriote in Greyton, Kanada

Having stayed at La Maison three times, I have to say that it's not as good as it used to be. There are 2 toilets and 1 shower for a dorm of 22 people and several privates. Instead of the cool and cozy air mattresses there are now creaky IKEA bunk beds... Basically, the facilities are not that goodso keep it mind. The place still has tons of character and good staff (though no night staff), the location is beautiful and the place is very safe.

Hmm interesting! We have and always had 2 showers! We took two weeks in january to remake one, that is comprehensible since there was mold problems. We always had 2 toilets. We always had Ikea bunk beds, and a normal matress is far better than an air matress for most people. We have made substantial investments in 2011 and the place is definitely much better and cleaner.

Great location - Vieux Montreal is very historic and pretty. Maybe not the "funnest" neighborhood, but it's close to everything. La Maison is small and can seem cramped when many people are there, but it is generally comfortable and homey. It was easy to interact with other guests but also easy to have your privacy. Staff was great! Only complaint is that the advertised WiFi was very unreliable. But would definitely recommend! Patrick, from USA ~ 13th Jan 2012

Great location near the waterfront, near Champ de Mars metro station, within Old Montreal, Place Jacques, and lots of restaurants. Mike is very helpful with ALL questions. Only two levels, kitchen, living room, three 4 bed privates, one sink, and two toilets on the main floor.Curtain bunk beds, two 8 bed privates, two showers, one sink, and laundry upstairs. Stayed in the 22 bed dorm which is in the loft, tended to be a little noisy as many people would walk through it. This is not your conventional hostel, it's quite small and cosy, with curtains that you can pull around the bunks. Too many people for the facilities 2 showers and a very small kitchen but it was clean and the staff (not there during the night) were very friendly and helped us find stuff to do in Montreal. wonderful place! the only thing that could be a problem for some people is the noise from the bars late at night. i had no problem sleeping through it, but my husband woke up a couple of times. other than that, the place was great! very clean, comfortable, and friendly people! karin, from USA ~ 7th Dec 2011
