I put "average" for the first criterion only because I don't really understand what you mean by "character." Perhaps you mean "appearance"? If so, then I would say "excellent" because the hostel was furnished and decorated in a nice modern style with very good taste. :) The staff members were all very friendly and helpful - a very nice aspect of our stay.
