I had a wonderful experience at the Oslo Youth Hostel Haraldsheim. The location was away from the action of Oslo but with the tram number 17 which drops you within a 5 min walk I didn't find it a real hardship. The staff was very sincere and helpful and provided excellent directions and advise. The breakfast was the best delicious and served in copious quantities. I would stay here again. Good impression. No broken stuff or things like that. Current furnishing. Could be cleaned more often, but OK. Cabinets in rooms are note lockable. Only small lockable lockers on the floor. Free internet terminals are skype-enabled (even thought that did not work when I tried). Around 30 minutes from hostel to city center by public transportation. Touristic information material available in hostel. Can buy tickets for public transportation there. Overall: really recommendable in hostel category Fabian, from Germany ~ 26th Sep 2009

No lockers in the 4 bed rooms. = Biggest disadvantage. Other things good or not too bad: Not close to the center of Oslo. Bed mattrass not clean. Good breakfast. Friendly Staff. Free internet. This hostel was well kept up but the crowd was much much older and it felt a little bit more like a temporary housing place than a youth hostel. There arent many hostels in Oslo but if you are alone and or young this might not be the place to meet people.
