We've been traveling near 3 months and this was the worst of our hostel experiences. Other than a free breakfast which still baffles me, everything else costs money. Internet, baggage storage, and wifi (yes wifi) require payment. It is near impossible to talk to reception as there is always a massive line and the hostel is often understaffed. Worst still, there is no kitchen. In a city as expensive as Amsterdam, not being able to cook dinner or prep a quick lunch was a big negative. The ho David, from USA ~ 25th Sep 2009

Located a bit far from the city center, this hostel was very clean, but... it was the second worst experience I've ever had. From the 3 euro per hour that they charge for internet (1.50 for 15 minutes!), to the 4.50 they charge to *sell* you a towel (they do not rent towels), to the 4 euro they charge to store your luggage if you need a place to keep it on the day of check-out. They have a separate, secure, card-access only area to store bicycles, but the card to your room does not allow access Juan, from USA ~ 7th Sep 2009

The location is fantastic (right off the beautiful Vondelpark), it is very clean, organized, well equipped except for one of the staff people, she was a very mean, rude, white, Dutch girl who insulted me for simply asking if I could go to the room to pick up my luggage after I was a bit delayed from the 10:30 am check-out time. Pretty good hostel and close to Leidesplein although more expensive than usual. Also be aware that they charge for everything (internet, storing luggage if you arrive before check-in at 14:00, towels etc.) Jeffrey, from Canada ~ 29th Jul 2009

Not bad at all. I was busily enjoying coffeeshops but I was glad I stayed at a non-smoking place just because it is a little less party-party. If you want to smoke or whatever else, the park is literally next door, which is nice. Also, very close to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh. Adam, from USA ~ 28th Jul 2009

Looking at the scores that I gave, it seems like it was a pleasurable stay. The building is astoninshigly beautiful, the security is ok, the location is fantastic and the fun and cleanliness are good. But it's not just that. We stayed in a 20 bed mixed dorm, which wasn't as sociable as you'd expect as everyone slept at bizarre hours! That's Amsterdam for you... The hostel was extremely secure, with key card entry etc, but not as communal as I'd hoped. Breakfast is good- fruit included, so stock up!
