This was probably one of the most memorable and enjoyble stays in many of my travels. The host Joe is amazing, friendly, welcoming and caring. Full of information and advise. The trip to it's location is more than worth it! The food is amazing (you're great, Wang, xie xie!!), the rooms and facilities are outstanding, the walks on the wall are briliant and free from hords of tourists. It's worth the trip to this quaint village of Gubeikou, with perfect access to the unrestored portion of the Great Wall. Monica is very accommodating and provides a wonderful hostel experience! Jana, from USA ~ 30th Nov 2011

Cette auberge est divine. Située dans le petit village de Gubeikou à 120 km au nord-est de Beijing, elle est à quelques minutes de marche seulement de la muraille de Chine. La muraille authentique et non restaurée. Nous nous sommes promené deux jours (deux heures et demi chaque jour) et nous n'avons croisé aucun touriste. On vient ici principalement pour la muraille car sinon le village n'offre pas grand chose à faire. Le personnel parle très bien anglais. This is the best place I've stayed at. The staff is amazingly friendly, the hostel is modern and clean. It's a good place to relax for a few days, to get away from the big city. Getting there is a bit tricky, but as long as you avoid the criminal taxi drivers that want to get you from the bus, and you stick to the instructions, you'll be alright. Bus 25 doesn't have a sign that says 25, so compare the characters that are in the instructions. I will definitely go there again. Ralph, from Netherlands ~ 23rd Aug 2011
