The hostel is nice and comfortable but it has few issues: they charge too much comissions for booking bus and train tickets (24 Y for 91 Y train ticket to Lijiang!) sometimes they print it in the reception! knowing that probably you'll pay them because the bus and train stations are far away. Secondly, they often doing problems when making your own food in their lobby and "restaurant" area, which is pretty unfair as a backpacker. The atmosphere is too "mass" and money making hostel. Excellent Location - close to everything - excellent staff whose English is great and they are very helpful with information and bookings. Great communal and quiet areas and also great food - what more can one ask for. Ian, from England ~ 6th Nov 2011

the staff is very unfreindly!! the girl in the recpetion told us the wrong time of the train and we were late because if it!! the hostel is too big and therefore they dont realy care about the guests... the rooms are suffocating and the toilets are horrible!! the location is okay and there is a nice bar but thats all Lior, from Israel ~ 5th Sep 2011

It's a really social hostel which is great and it has a bar which is open to the public. There are some nice quiet areas too and the rooftop bar has a great environment. You get a voucher for a coffee and a beer upon arrival which is always nice. The hostel rooms were clean and the four person dorm was great. Meredith, from USA ~ 18th Aug 2011

No air con in the dorm, and no windows, so we had to open the double doors all night which let in a flood of mosquitos and noise. Staff are a mix with attitudes ranging from friendly to indifferent. The location is very loud, but it is in the center of town so convenient to get cabs and get around. We asked if the staff knew of anyplace we could get a good cheap massage, a simple request, but they had no idea rather than admitting this they gave us bad directions and sent us on a wild goose chas William, from USA ~ 31st Jul 2011

The Hump is a decent Hostel. I wasn't particularly blown away, but it had everything I needed. Only complaint was that in the single room there was no window to the outside, just one onto the hall. It's very noisy in the night. We couldn't sleep at all. And my friends stayed in a twin shared bath room. They couldn't sleep too as there were people walking and speaking loudly all the night.
