The location was good, but we really don't know much about Quito at this point to compare. It was near many restaurants and mercados and safe enough during the day as there were business people about everywhere. Carlos was super helpful and the breakfast was wonderful. Lots of fruit, juice, bread, cheese and eggs with coffee or tea. And it was very quiet. If you want a party place, this isn't it. For the price it simply can't be beat. Karen, from USA ~ 7th Jan 2012

this is the kind of place my parents would have chosen.that being said i enjoyed my stay, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious, very clean bathrooms, quiet, certainly no party scene. if you like fancy sitting rooms with fancy decorations this is the place for you my friend. We stayed here for three nights and loved this place, hence why I ticked everything as excellent. All the staff (front desk,cleaners,in the cafe, gardeners) made us feel so welcome. Cleaniest hostel I've stayed in and best breakfast ever. The rooms are quite big and they clean it up every day. The only thing is that you don't get to know other people as the common room and kitchen are not really used. No lockers, but you can leave your stuff at reception. Close to bars in Mariscal.
