The hotel itself was perfect: a tiny room, yes, but it was very clean, comfortable, and elegant. There was no remote for the fancy flat screen TV and the free internet was quite slow in the evenings, but the free breakfast (served a block away at a cafe) was great. A real breakfast. And the staff at the cafe were wonderful. I absolutely cannot say the same of the staff at the Union Hotel. The day receptionist was ridiculously rude. We arrived to find a shoebox-sized room which had not been cleaned properly. There was a pizza box on top of the wardrobe left over from the previous inhabitants. The hotel then charged us for the stay twice and refused to refund the money. The staff were rude and very unaccommodating. Kathleen, from England ~ 13th Aug 2011

I've read a few severely negative comments about this place and they don't really seem justified. This is not a luxury hotel it's for people on a budget who want a nice spot, a very nice room, an internet connection, hot shower, and cable. The building is not completely finished, but I know that at least the first floor is nice. It's close to the R to Manhattan, close to a variety of shops in Park Slope, and one of the least expensive hostels I found.
