Great place! Pingyao is the place to go! The hostel has a great traditional atmospehere! Bob was extremely helpful and friendly - the best hostel manager we ever came across. Rooms were nice and are in the real Pingyao-style. Place could be a bit cleaner though. Food was also good and reasonable priced for Pingyao. Yannick, from Germany ~ 12th Mar 2010

This was the best hostel I've stayed at yet. They went out of their way to help me and threw in lots of freebies to boot! Including a free pick up and drop off at the train station and I was allowed leave my clothes to dry in the room until 10pm on the day I was supposed to have checked out. Great place! We have had a great time in Pingyao thanks to the guesthouse. Not to crowded place, friendly staff, great chicken curry's. A very good place, we truly recommend. Tineke, from Netherlands ~ 2nd Aug 2009

The room is better value for money than in another hostel (Harmony Guesthouse, where staff nice but toilet really stinks, room too old, we even found cockroach). But in Zhengjia the shower was barely working (no pressure, not possible to wash hair). The free internet connection is good (with cable, but there seems to be a WiFi too). They are located in the middle of the Old City, which makes it very convenient to visit the place. Service was mixed. This was a great hostel with loads of charm and in a great neighborhood. most of the staff are very nice other than the girl that wouldn't get off the internet. They were very kind and gave me a ride back to the train station and a bottle of water for the journey. The owner was very kind and professional and has a son that speaks English very well.
