When we arrived we were told the hostel was overbooked so they moved us to a flat some blocks away. We thought the building was a bit dodgy, and the flat was very dirty, although it was quite big. Some restoration and it could be a nice flat. The biggest problem was the cleanliness. We actually bought a bottle of bleach to clean the bathtub and toilet. Good points are the location, very close from the train station, and the staff which was kind and tried to help as much as they could.

We stayed in East Side Hostel for two nights. Due to overbooking we were shifted to an appartement in down town Budapest, which we shared with two other couples. It was fairly filthy. I´m used to foreign hair in my bed, but used plasters are too much.

We got an appartment for the same price as the dorm because they over booked. Which was great and handy. Quite central location. Near lots of public transport. Hostel was TINY and the man working in it was very rude and ignorant at times. I would reccomend it if you were not going to be in the hostel much as there is only one couch in a tiny kitchenm to sit down. It's all very small. And you won't like putting up with the man who works there snide remarks.
