Lock out from 9am was ridicuolous. You have to lugg your bags out of your room too which is a total pain in the arse. I was charged an extra two euro for some reason too which i still don't know what for. Otherwise, it was close to trasnport and the staff were very helpful and polite.

The room and hostel itself was alright (bonus having our own shower) but the kitchen facilities were very poor. If you plan to budget and eat at the hostel make sure you bring your own knife, fork, spoon etc as their supply is minimal.

Not a bad place, especially for the price. The area was a bit dodgy, but more so during the day, though the hostel can't be blamed for that. Room and facilities pretty good, despite initial outside impressions.

Give this place a chance. I stayed here 12 days and its really not bad at all. Grier, the Canadian receptionist, is awesome. The staff works pretty hard to keep the place clean, & are mostly pretty laidback. You have access to a fully equipped kitchen, minus a full-sized oven. The courtyard is the best common area and has a centralized layout, this -intentionally or not- promotes socialization. Combine this with cheap French wine, and you get regular fun parties. I met my current girlfriend there. Some people had food and property stolen from them, but if you´re smart, you can avoid this. It´s right next to a metro stop. As one of the cheapest hostels in Paris, I recommend it. But try to avoid the 12-bed dorm (#13), its noisy and the bathroom always has a puddle in it. And use the upstairs shower if you can, there´s more room.
