No smoking indoors, like the whole of Thailand. Very few air-conditioners, helping reduce green-house emissions. Not a flash-packer hostel. A home away from home for those who truly understand what a backpack is and is for. Gourmet pies, ribs, burgers, pizza and beer from 45 Baht.

Good value hostel. Its about 10 mins from the sky train which is great for getting around. Takes around 1hr to get to Khao San/ Temples (via sky train and very scenic boat trip) and its nice enough to be in an area where Thais live and not just backpackers. John was really helpful and friendly can give you plenty of advice and the staff do actually speak a bit of english and are sound enough.

it obviously not the hilton, but for the price its a great little place to stay. i'll definately stay here again.

John's place is about 200 meters frmo the nearest sky train station which can take you anywhere in Bangkok. This hostel is definatly for the BUDGET backpacker. You pay for what yuo get, so the fans instead of a/c and cold showers instead of hot power showers, you have to put up with. \The internet is free, though a little slow. Big John and his staff were approachable and helped where they could.
