Hostelling International Seattle at the historic American Hotel is centrally located in the International District of downtown Seattle. We are at 520 S. King St., which is just one block east of Union Station, the transit hub for Seattle that includes Sound Transit's light rail stop from Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) International Airport to downtown, Amtrak's Seattle terminus at King Street Station (two blocks west of us), and Metro buses for Seattle and the surrounding suburbs. Our recently renovated 90-room, 320-bed facility in this downtown Seattle location makes us the ideal place to stay for value-oriented travelers. We offer the ideal mix of location, convenience, value, and fun!

Overall this was a good location for accessing all of downtown Seattle by foot.However, i would agree with prior comments that the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy and would not feel safe if you were walking alone.The Hostel was clean, the gender specific showers had times lights which means during the night about every 5 min you have to jump out and wave your arms around to turn them back on, embarrassing if someone else happens to walk in, but otherwise a good experience.I would stay here a Alicia, from USA ~ 23rd Sep 2011
