Mountain House Arthurs Pass in Arthurs Pass, Neuseeland

The Mountain House is a high quality alpine hostel for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure travellers. We provide various styles of accommodation suitable for the independent backpacker through to families or groups.

The national park at your doorstep provides numerous day walk and tramping opportunities. In winter take your choice of five local ski fields.

Visit alpine meadows with their wild flower displays and rare native birds. Have an adventure in local caves, canyons, or climb to stunning mountain tops and glaciers

Buses run from Christchurch, Greymouth and Hokitika daily and stop outside the Hostel. The Tranz Alpine train runs daily from Christchurch and Greymouth and the train station is a short 500 metre walk from the Hostel. Shuttle for trampers to walking tracks. Spectacular day trips with walking distance of the Hostel. Comfortable, cosy common rooms. Internet access including wireless and Skype. Fully equipped self-catering kitchens. Luggage storage, free car parking and laundry facilities. There is no supermarket or ATM in the small alpine village of Arthur's Pass so you may wish to stock up in Greymouth or Christchurch before you arrive.

Reception is open between 9 am and 7 pm. You can cancel up to 5pm the night before with no extra charge. After that time we would charge you for the first night. There is no supermarket in Arthur's Pass. There are two restaurants open for evening meals. There is an ATM. DOC Visitor Information Centre open 7 days a week.
