Here Be Dragons in Battambang, Kambodscha

It is located on the east bank of Battambang's Sangker River, near Wat Sangker and overlooking the riverside park where, at dusk and dawn, locals gather to chat, snack and exercise. It takes around 10 minutes to walk from Here Be Dragons into the centre of town, and on a moto or tuk tuk it'll take about the same amount of time to get out into the countryside. Here, you can hang out in the evening after exploring Battambang's beautiful countryside, or kick back for a few days after Siem Reap's temples or the bright lights of Bangkok.

The dorm room bunk beds were hand-crafted by a Khmer bed-maker to an ancient design we nicked from the internet. There are 6 beds in the room, and two shared bathrooms out the back.

We have a characterful late-night bar where you can grab a beer or cheap cocktail, listen to decent music, and share tales of your travelling adventures with other backpackers. Or, if you just want a bit of peace and quiet to read a book or email friends, then swing in a hammock in our beautiful garden and feel your cares and worries slide away.

The dorm has six beds, at $2 each a night. Or you can choose to stay in one of our private rooms for $8-$10. Our lovely cooks can make good cheap basic food like fried rice or noodles, or more adventurous dishes like deep-fried prawns and spicy salads. And they cook a great Full English. A main meal costs between $1.75 and $4.5, so whatever your budget, come visit us at Here Be Dragons, set down your bags, and relax into a more Cambodian pace of life..

We open at 7am, although if you arrive earlier than that you'll often find someone around. We serve food all day, until 9pm. Our bar is open late... All our rooms are fan rooms, and most are cold water only.
