***Come to help us celebrate our re-opening at our new address at 3 Mikszath Kalman Ter with huge discounts for the first week***After being closed for the last 6 months we are proud to open Minoo House: the result of a collaborative effort of a group of friends with well-worn soles who wanted to provide a place in Budapest that was ecologically and culturally minded, socially and locally conscious, as well as home-like and comfortable to stand out from the hostel crowd.
We think we have the best hostel in Budapest.
Like a little island in the busy city, Minoo House sits atop a quaint and friendly square in an astounding heritage building, designed and furnished with handmade creations using recycled and ecologically sound materials.
Perfect for solo travelers, and groups small and large, our shared rooms are designed with multi-leveled gallerys and NO bunk beds to give the sense of privacy and peace normally lacking in dorm accommodation. We have a range of private rooms from romantic double rooms and spacious twin rooms to roomy and comfortable private rooms for three, four and five people. All of our rooms are light, airy, and wonderful to be in, with connectors, personal reading lamps, and privacy curtains for every guest.
Minoo House is in the centre of Miksath Kalman Ter, the meeting point between the elegant 5th district, downtown 8th district and the pumping nightlife of the 7th district. We are less than 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station, and less than 10 minutes walk from the river. It is an optimal location that allows you to easily arrive, leave and explore anything you feel in Budapest.
We offer tours straight from the hostel door, with knowledgeable and up-to-date guides who want to show visitors rarely seen faces of the city, from good bars, restaurants and underground party places to exhibitions and concerts. We do not promote or try to sell you bar crawl tickets. Low quality alcohol and money grabbing vampires are not our style☺ We will, however send you off to the best parties in the city, give you info about the best cultural points to explore, and do our best to help you find what youre after and truly enjoy your time here. Budapest is bustling with music, art and culture but you need to know which doors to knock on.
Every morning we have a buffet breakfast with muesli, good bread and fresh locally produced fruits, veggies, cold cuts, cheese and milk and a selection of teas. It also includes one espresso from our friendly next-door-neighbours, Lumen Caf, whose home roasted coffee is widely recognized as being one of the best in Budapest. MmmBreakfast is just 3.50 Euro too, cheaper and yummier than what you can find around the city.
We also provide a washing service on request.
Budapest is best on wheels and if you would rather ride than walk you can rent a bike from us- without leaving a deposit and with on the spot service. We have a selection of easy to ride camping bikes or faster and sleeker styles and our prices per day are equal too or cheaper than the offers from the bigger rent-a-bike places, with big reductions if you rent for longer.
We welcome group bookings and are used to accommodating groups from cultural organisations and conferences. Our room set-up is multi-functional and if you send us an email letting us know what youre after we will do our best to suit your needs.
We do not accept bookings for stag/ hens nights.
We welcome walk-ins and email bookings: email@example.com
The best things in life are free:
Strong fast Wifi throughout the hostel,
Fresh towels and linen,
Tea and Coffee & a well-stocked spice rack,
Maps and tips and honest info,
Security lockers, and clothes racks in dorms,
An eco conscious, clean, safe and friendly environment,
And a good atmosphere.
This is a house with history. One of the most beautiful heritage houses in the so-called castle district, the house and garden found its new life as an art house and studio space for last few years. Now it is open as a base for travelers who are looking for something a bit unique, as well as a place to rest their heads. On our lower floor and in the cellar you will still find industrial art and music studios and the staff here are all involved with the cultural life in Budapest, from music festivals and cultural events to art spaces and studios.
We are proud of our plants and garden, inside and outside, and collect the organic rubbish from the hostel for compost to feed our fruit and veggie patch. We do our best to minimize the ecological impact of so many people of the environment and recycle, choose ecologically sound washing machines, air-dry the washing and use ecologically safe and biodegradable cleaning products.
Finally, the most important elements in any temporary home are the passers by. We are lucky to always have great people stay with us and aim to continue our track record. We are proudly not a hotel or run by a massive company, but big enough to meet people from all over the world over breakfast. We are looking for people who are interested in exploring the other side of Budapest and are kind, open and respectful to those they are sharing a house with.
Check us out and see for yourself!
PLEASE NOTE: Do not change money at the airport, train or bus stations. They give a bad rate. If you have no other choice just change a small amount to get you to the hostel 5-10 Euro maximum.
Our check in time is 10AM to 10 PM. If you need to arrive outside these times please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm.
