Location, location, location! HI-San Francisco Downtown is at the centre of everything: cable cars, Chinatown, Museum Row, Union Square, and plenty of world-class shopping, restaurants, theatres, and bars.

With so much to do, you'll spend all your time outside the hostel -- but we keep it squeaky clean and comfy for when you get back. The hostel is fresh from a recent renovation, and our housekeeping staff make daily rounds.

Other perks to make your stay as smooth as possible include free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, free linen and towels, laundry facilities, a new, fully-equipped guest kitchen and a theatre-style TV room. We have both private rooms and 4-bed dorms, including many with private bathrooms.

Even better, you don't need to look further than the front desk to plan your stay - we organize free and cheap daily activities like pub crawls, walking tours, museum visits, and day trips to places like Muir Woods, wine country, or Yosemite.

HI-San Francisco Downtown is operated by Hostelling International, a non-profit membership-based organization. Non-members will be asked to pay a $3/night non-membership fee upon check-in.

***PLEASE NOTE: There's another hostel that is also located on Mason Street, just 2 blocks south of us. We've had several guests mistakenly check in at the wrong hostel. Please be sure you're in the right place - 312 Mason Street (between Geary and O'Farrell). Look for the Hostelling International logos outside our entrance.

Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to arrival or a 'no-show' fee equivalent to the first night's accommodation will be charged.
