Caveland is nested in an old 18th century winery. We are situated in the heart of Santorini island, just 20 minutes walk or 3 minutes drive from the beautiful and atmospheric capital of the island called Fira Town. Our village is called Karterados and it is one of the most picturesque and traditional villages on the island with real well preserved cave houses, grandmothers sitting in their yards and grandfathers riding their donkeys!
Our complex consists of 8 traditional caves and numerous sea view terraces with a big pool area and gardens. We have a big communal kitchen that you can use for preparation of your own meals, bookshelves if you want to borrow a book and a donation-based coffee corner. Breakfast and wireless internet is included.
From May, you can book with us volcano trips or reserve paid port/airport transfer. Ideal visit to Santorini is 3 nights.
During the summer months (June- September) we organize plenty of activities:
- you can join our regular yoga classes or aquarobics by Veronika who is a registered yoga teacher
- rent a tennis court
- relax by the pool and pool bar
- join our summer BBQs
- discover 'Lost Atlantis' with the owner Kostas who is a licensed tour guide
We are located 10 minutes walk from the bus stop in Karterados (Zotos Bakery) which is the second last stop before Fira town or the first stop after Fira. All the busses heading to the South of the island (Perissa, Akrotiri, Kamari) pass this stop and it is really easy to get around.
Bring your driving license with you, it is good to rent a quad bike or a car and see the hidden spots of the island!
Let us know your arrival times. If you are arriving late night/early in the morning, you need to book the bed for that particular night. We will then prepare your room/bed and you will be able to go to your room even if you are arriving very late.

We are located in Karterados, the first village you will pass when heading south from Fira town, the capital of the Santorini island. Coming from Fira town, port or an airport, please ask the bus or a taxi driver to stop you at the fork at Multimedia market/ Zotos bakery. Leaving Fira town behind you there you take the downhill road on your left and continue all the way down for about 5-7 minutes. You will pass a police station, a windmill, 2 mini markets. Still continue all the way downhill until you see 2 tennis courts, Caveland sign and vineyards. The Caveland sign is a small wooden sign that you will see on your left on your eye level.
If you prefer to avoid the walk during the heat of the day, please contact the reception for the options to organize for you a paid transfer. Note, the transfers might not be available during early season. Caveland is a large property nested in the middle of an old vineyard and therefor its location is tucked away from the busy crowds of tourists.
To get to Karterados with a local bus is very easy, we are the second last stop before Fira town (island’s capital) of every bus coming from any location in the South of the island. If you take a local bus, you purchase your ticket inside the bus. The fare is €2.20 from Athinios port and €1.60 from Thira airport. These buses are scheduled in direct accordance with the ferry and plane schedules. They are operated by ‘KTEL’ and are typically a blue/green color. In Karterados you get of at ZOTOS bakery and then you just follow the walking instructions. Ask the driver to stop at Zotos in Karterados.
If you take a taxi, ask them to bring you to “tennis club”, which is the name CAVELAND used to have from the early 80’s and is well known to local taxi drivers. You should not pay more than €20 one way.
Renting a vehicle immediately upon arrival and drive yourself here is yet another option. Rental prices vary depending on vehicle model and rental agency, but you can expect a price between €20 and €40 per day.
