Welcome to Castanea Old Town Hostel, one of the most central hostels in Stockholm.
This is a small, personal hostel, located in the middle of the Old Town (Gamla Stan), one of the best-preserved medieval city centres in the world. Castanea is a modern hostel in a charming building from 1747 with a beautiful horse chestnut tree at a small square just outside.
In our hostel there are 55 beds. You can stay in dorms or private rooms; we have single, twin, four- or six-bed private rooms. All rooms have shared shower and toilet. In our dormitory we have lockers; bring your own padlock or rent from us. There's also a popular guest kitchen for your own cooking.
We have a free guest computer as well as free Wi-Fi in most rooms.
Our surroundings have stories to tell. To stroll through the streets is to travel through history. We're only 200 meters from the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan and near tourist attractions, shops, cafés and restaurants. Castanea is also close to Central Station, only one stop with the underground.

Reception hours: 9.00-11.00 and 15.00-18.00.
Check-in: 15.00-18.00.
For arrivals before 15:00 or after 18.00 please contact us 2-6 days before arrival to arrange for check-in.
All beds are supplied with a duvet and a pillow. Bed linen and towels are available at the reception for hire or alternatively you can bring your own. Please note that either way bed linen must be used. Due to hygienic reasons, the use of sleeping bag is not allowed.
We have a nice guest kitchen where you can prepare your own breakfast or other meals.
In our dormitory we have lockers, so bring your own padlock or rent from us.
Toilets and shower are shared and located in the corridor. We have guest computer and free wireless in the common room (which also works in most rooms).
We are a no-smoking property and pets are not allowed

It's tricky to find the hostel if you stumble around in Gamla Stan at 9 p.m. and -15 degrees, but you will love it once you are in.The rooms and the sanitates are modern and very clean. The staff is really polite and helpful if you have any request. You also can get a good breakfast in the neighbored restaurantfor a reasonable price (45 SKR p.p.)compared to other places to eat in Stockholm. Tom, from Germany ~ 29th Jan 2013
