'The Allen Lee' offers convenience, safety, and friendly service at downtown Washington's best price. You can walk to most of the sights. The Lincoln Memorial is an easy four block walk, and the White House is seven blocks away. The monuments and museums, restaurants, the night life attractions in Georgetown and Dupont Circle are all nearby. The Foggy Bottom Metro Station (part of Washington's safe and modern subway system,) is only three blocks from the front door and is easy transportation to any destination in the city.
Newly renovated, the Allen Lee has recently re-opened under new management. Most of the interior of the building has been re-painted and re-carpeted. The plaster and the plumbing have been repaired, and many rooms have all new furnishings. The telephone system has been updated, and Cable TV has been added. We welcome first-time visitors, and, if you have stayed with us before, we invite you to come back to experience a new and better version of the Allen Lee.

The woman receptionist was very unprofessional. She was a Black woman who was there when we first checked in. The rest of the staff we met in our stay was nice. She was just really rude. The Hostel is very old, the staff wasn't very friendly and the room (double bed) is very small. Also, I left some coins and subway tolkens from my city (Philadelphia, not even Washington) and went to dinner. When I came back, the coins and tolkens were gone. Initially, I thought they had cleaned the room and picked as tip but they didn't had cleaned anything. It was about $12 in coins and tolkens. I don't recommend this hostel to anybody.
