The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a free upgrade to a private room the first time we stayed there. The only thing I didn't like was that the bag storage was not in a locked room, just a hallway next to reception. We didn't have any problems, however, and if you lock your luggage it shouldn't worry you too much. The front desk staff recognized us and our luggage!

Absolute Hostel is an amazing hostel, at an amazing price. It's not in the fanciest area, but it's very accesible, and a good walk to the activity-packed Marais district. I stayed for 6 nights, and would not have gone anywhere else. It's located about 2 minutes walk from the Republique metro station (don't get lost! exit at Rue de Fauburg de Temple), which caters to 5 Paris Metro lines.
The breakfast, which includes bread, a croissant, orange juice, cereal and your choice of hot chocolate or coffee. DO NOT choose the coffee. The rooms are cleaned daily. I stayed in a 4-bed room, and we had our own bathroom with a shower. The only downside, I would say, is security. There's nowhere to lock up your stuff, so be wary. I didn't have any trouble, regardless (except my universal electrical adapter went missing. i don't know if it was taken or if it's burried deep in my luggage somewhere...) I guess if you keep your things in one place, and stack it neatly, it will be okay.
i am returning to Paris after a weekend in London, and i've already reserved to stay at the Absolute Paris Hostel. Great service (it's also beside a Laundromat and a little grocery chain, as well as bars, delis, and restaurants).

They hostel only gives you one key per room, even though it is likely that you aren't traveling with your roommates. This became somewhat of an issue at night when people came in at 4 and had to be let in. Besides that, the hostel was perfectly fine (although you should expect slow breakfast service), the location was great, and the rooms were clean.

breakfast was pretty decent - roll, croissant, juice, tea, coffee. there were 5 of us, so we were lucky and had the whole 6-bed room to ourselves. the room was pretty crammed though, so it would have been really awkward to be in such a small space with a bunch of strangers, just an fyi. the shower/bathtub didn't have a shower curtain, that made showering a bit difficult. towels seemed to be changed everyday which was cool. room was pretty cold at night, but maybe we just didn't use the heater right.

Good stuff:
-Friendly staff
-Cute rooms
-Great brekky (you'd pay 6 euro in a cafe)
-Near metro, with supermarket across the road, and laundry next door
Less good stuff
-Having only one key
-Dodgy shower
-Room a bit cramped, and no lockers

Getting towels was nice, since at other hostels I had to bring my own. On the beds there's a bottom sheet but no top one, just a blanket, and I don't think they really wash the blankets that often so that could be icky, but it seemed clean. The room was small and the lighting was bad but it was clean, no bugs or anything, and the bathroom was also clean with a hot shower and the towels were changed often. Internet in the lobby, which can seem expensive but is immensely cheap compared to some of the internet cafes we passed. Very nice staff, all of whom speak English, and people from all over stayed here but there were definitely lots of Americans (including me). No lockers, but it felt very safe. Good location, 20 min walk from the Louvre, not too loud or crazy.

It's cute, the people are super helpful and nice, and the breakfast is simple, yet filling. The only downside is the whole "one key per room" thing. Even two keys per room would be super. I'd definitely use this hostel again!
