Free breakfasts and 5$ dinners are a wonderful convenience for the budget-limited.

This hostel does a good job of making everything accessible for you. It is a short walk from Union Square and there are plenty of fliers in the building about tours and attractions and trips that can make your stay in the Bay Area more memorable. There is a numerical-coded front door and every room has a lock with lockers inside, so no need to worry about crime. There was some noise in my room from outside, but it is to be expected from the city (I also stayed in the 16th floor of a Hilton and still heard noise from the city). The staff was very helpful and will draw directions on a map for anywhere you need to go. Free internet, breakfast, and the airport shuttle is only $9. A great stay!!

We arrived at the hotel at late night and stayed in a sister hotelof Adelaide which is called Dakota. The staff in Dakota said these 2 hotels are pretty the same so that we didn't ask for changing. However, during our 5-night staying, we heard people walking on the fire escape stairs very loudly every night. When we checked out, they charged us for using 1-800 phone calls without any detailed billing information. I wish I went to Adelaide Hotel directly at that night instead of giving Dakota a try.

the room was a bit messy, but im not sure if i should blame the hostel or the roommates. the beds were comfortable, however, the frame was a bit loose and tended to rock; every time i turned i felt as if was going to wake the person below me. only one electrical outlet in the room. there's free wifi if you have a laptop, but i didn't, and the 5 computers that they have there are occupied most of the time. However, it was one of the best hostels I've stayed in. The staff was friendly and very helpful. $5 dinner every night, and it was pretty good; free breakfast (and nutella!); free tea all day (very awesome). clean toilets. big tv w/ cable in the dining area. comfortable couches. the kitchen is open 24 hours.

Great location and friendly staff. I enjoyed my stay except for the mattress (I could feel each spring on my back...).
