Beware: they refused to honor my deposit as a deposit and instead insisted that it was a fee from hostels.com. They also tried to change their published cancellation policy on me. When I tried to cancel my second night in the hostel, they insisted that I give 48 hours notice instead of the 24 indicated in their email. Sketchy!

I have to say that this is one of the best hostels I have lived in. I stayed for about a week and a half and they were so accomodating. I didn't really have to ask for things, they were already offered and I was pleasantly surprised. The hospitality service was excellent and I would refer this hostel to anyone for a stay in SF. It was really welcoming and I felt like I was taken care of in a city that I was new to. I am very grateful for their service and hope to see the hostel get recognition that it deserves.

Great stay. Great location. Common room very attractive and comfortable. Downstairs kitchen area also a highlight. Would've liked a newer pillow and mattress, but hey, it is a hostel and not a hotel, yeah?

We were booked into a double around the corner at the Dakota Hotel which was nice and the old school elevator added to the authentic SF experience. I would stay again but will try to get a room at the Adelaide to experience it and review it properly.

I stayed at the Adelaide for a week, and would definitely stay here again (I was traveling by myself and stayed in a 4-bed female dorm). The location is great - walking distance to everything and safe. I felt pretty safe keeping my stuff in my room, and my roommates were always nice. The rooms could have been a bit cleaner - there were a couple stray hairs on my blanket - but they were clean enough that I felt comfortable hanging out on my bed reading, and housekeeping came by every morning to clean. I rarely had to wait in line for a bathroom, and if I did the line wasn't long. There are only a few computers, but I could usually get online when it wasn't peak time (early in the morning or in the afternoon when everyone was out touring the city). Also, if you want to go dancing, but don't want it to be a big ordeal "The Cellar" is just 2 blocks away on Sutter St. - on Saturday night cover was $10 and that included a free drink.
