It was the worst hostel I've ever seen.. We canceled at the first day because it was horrible.

They are homes for bacteria, are there to exhaust moist air, help prevent the ceiling from rotting. Please change the carpets. Aside from this, friendly staff, clean linen, great continental breakfast.

My son and I had a very good stay at the American Dream Hostel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable and close to the bathroom and shower. The location was very good as we were walking distance to the subways and in a nice neighborhood. Although not in the heart of Manhattan, the subway takes you most places in 10 or 15 minutes. The breakfast of cereal, oatmeal, coffee and fruit was great for me as I am not a big breakfast eater. I would stay there again.

Do not let your initial impression of the outside door scare you! We found the hostel to be accommadating and friendly. We were bummed that we overlooked the breakfast of oatmeal, eggs, cereal, donuts & coffee offered each morning because we had assumed 'breakfast' would be awful. We wished we had realized it was so great earlier in our stay. The location was 1 block from the 23rd Ave subway stop which was perfect for all we planned to do. We only saw other people in passing on the stairs, but h

I enjoyed this hostel, the employees were nice and open. The place was kept up good, clean. There was no parking as descibed but they changed that on there website as soon as we told them, but the parking garage closest to them was the cheapest around, it moves at months end though. Overall I rate this place good, breakfast was handy and healthy.

We ordered a room with 3 beds for 3 people. When we arrived there were two beds for three people...very unprofessional.

You get what you pay for. It is very cheap...but good if you want to find something in the center of the city.

The hostel was in a great location, the staff were wonderful, accommodating and friendly, and most importantly, the sheets and bathrooms were clean! Definitely would recommend!

Location is good but it needs a good cleaning and a change of carpet. We had cockroachs in our room!

pretty good location on 24th st but that's about it. we had cockroaches in our room. we asked lou to spray 3 times which he did, but they were still there the whole time - on the sink and on the bed too! the place would be so much better if they spent a little cash to clean it all up. the whole place smells and is a bit depressing. we found an apartment on craigslist.org which was spotless, a better location and cheaper.
