The American Dream Hostel is a warm and friendly oasis set in the heart of New York City. The staff are good humoured and attentive, the breakfast is plentiful, and the coffee is always flowing. The rooms are basic fare, but what is lacking in way of decor is made up for in in the hostel's unassuming charm and eccentricity.

Location are good , walking distance to main attractions, subways and can save a few bucks on transportations. Recommended for backpackers with tight budgets.

The location of the hostel was great -we were able to reach everything by walking. Everything between Central park and Statue of Liberty. But unfortunately the bathrooms weren't as clean as we would have liked them to be. Anyway- we really recommend this hostel for a short stay!

It was not the cleanliest of places, but Lou was awesome. There was a really nice breakfast and the people that stay there are nice. As far as a place to stay, it was a good deal and we barely spent any time in the hostel because, let's face it, we were in NYC!

Lou is da man! Nice, comfy room. Shared bathrooms are better than one can ever expect. Breakfasts are kind of the same everyday, but a good way to start a hectic run of NYC. Not the place to get to know people, but a nice place to go home to at the end of the night. I would stay here again if I ever go back.

Good location, and free breakfast offsets the relatively high price for this hostel. Shabby rooms. Excellent location, and quite calm for the area. All in all happy.
