It is nice that it is close to Times Square, but it is the most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms were nasty. There were bugs in my room and the kitchen and fridge are not sanitary. There are also many strange people staying in the American Dream that look like the homeless on a bad day that are not to be trusted. Many foreign students were staying and were stealing food from other people. I don't recomend this place to anybody.

It was very nice, the staff is very very friendly and helpful. Breakfast till 12 is really good. Only downside: the beds are extremely squeeky.

WOW! This is by far my favorite hostel!! The area was wonderful! Right next to my idol, Jimmy Fallon's apartment. The fact that they give you a set of keys like made me feel like it wasn't a hostel. The rooms and showers were clean. The only bad part was that the beds were so goddamn squeeky and the hallways were too. But what made me love it the most? THE WORKER! Finally, it wasn't some grumpy indian! It was a very friendly black guy that made conversation with me. He was really sweet and unlike the indians, could speak English. I just loved that guy. For now on, I am always staying there. I highly recommend it. Oh, and it was a 4 person room, the entire time I only had one other roommate. I liked that alot!

Had a good time there. Lou the host was very helpful, and breakfast was available until 12 each day. Reccommended!

Be prepared to wake up at 7 a.m. during the week. There is constuction being done next to the building. It's LOUD. You can's sleep through it. All the machines and the workers yelling. Not pleasant. If you can handle that then it's not bad.

New York City has become our second home, thanks to Lou! Although this has been our very first visit to New York and to the USA, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. People who look for luxury and high maintenance, they should stay away. American Dream Hostel is a place to meet people from all over the world and to eat and sleep without hurting yourself with spending too much money. Lou, you are the greatest!

This hostel is the best compromise between location and price. The manager is very nice and breakfast is excellent. I recommend it!

American Dream Hostel is well located and it's clean and cozy. From here to go to any place in Manhattan Island is really quick and convenient. Plus, in the neighborhood there are so many good restaurants and bars. Staying here made my friend and I enjoy NYC so much!!
