After 7 weeks travel around Europe this was the best hostel we stayed at. Live guitar music, free high speed internet, card keys. The people who run this place have obviously travelled and done their research. There is no where else in Dublin I would stay.

The main area is very nice, with a large lounge and game room area, a great place to meet people. The internet is free. The bathroom on the otherhand was a mess, with water all over the floor and dirt filling the shower. It was a short walk to all the sites in Dublin, and the bus from the airport drops you off right across the street from the hostel (take the 16A).

They have advertised themselves as open 24 hours, but I showed up after an overnight flight from Boston and they wouldn't let me check in. Then they wouldn't let me store my luggage, because they only store it "ever hour on the hour." They also didn't have a clean bathroom for me to use. The reason why I chose that hostel was so that I could have some place to go and take a nap after an overnight flight and they made that impossible.

Avalon House was located close to Temple bar and many good restaurants. Breakfast could have been better and was understaffed. I was bitten by a spider 8 times while sleeping.
Otherwise, I would recommend the hostel

The rooms and bathrooms were not the prettiest but the staff was very helpful and the hostel came with many amenities. Would stay there again.

Great time here. Showers in our room were freezing cold, but the shared showers were much nicer and really hot. Very friendly staff. Good Stay!

there were some problems getting checked in. they didnt have the right name so there were some problems. but it is in a nice location and you can walk everywhere
