The hostel itself is not bad... some guys at the front desk are cool some are more off... not a bad place to be at... there is no big thing going in the hostel so dont expect parties in it,,,,

I thought the people were wonderful and I would def. come back. The advertisements are not exactly clear, however, and before arriving I had different expectations. Therefore at first I was a little displeased with the room sizes and the fact that there is only one restroom on each floor. But by the end of my stay I was pleased with the staff and their willingness to help, this far out weighed my dissapointment and I would be glad to come back or recommend the Avalon to a friend.

The staff were great. They were extremely helpful and knew about everything. There were a lot of security points where you had to swipe a card, but then there wasn't anywhere in the rooms to put your stuff; you had to rent a locker on the ground floor. However, they do have a large common area, pool table, fooze ball, and a lot of people hanging out.

The facilities were great, including the kitchen, lounge rooms, large and reasonably clean (exceptionally clean, by hostel standards) bathrooms, and large lockers for rent on the ground floor. There are enclosed sink-and-mirror stalls in the bathrooms, ideal for dressing and getting ready in private. The staff was friendly and highly accomodating. The only things I could complain about were that there were no outlets in the bathrooms and the coffee at breakfast was unpalatable. But whining about that would be as nose-in-the-air as using a word like unpalatable.

This was a great hostel in a great location with a great, helpful, honest staff! One of the best hostels our family has ever stayed at! I mistakenly left a camera on the desk one day and it was waiting for me when I came back 3 hours later! Whenever we had a question, the staff gave wonderful suggestions and directions. All this and clean, safety minded. and close to everything!
