The Avalon house was a perfect place for our vacation, it was inexpensive and had a very good location, within walking distance of all the hot spots. The only down side was a smell from the bathroom which didn't go away but other than that it was great

the guys at the counter were so very nice. one of the guys in our group was ill, the staff told informed us on the medical situation in Dublin and went the extra mile to get him the care he needed. They are understanding down to earth people.

the avalon house was overall a really nice place to stay. it is such a great location, you are so close to all the best places in dublin. the staff are incredibly helpful and although the facilities are not what you'd get at a five-star hotel, well, that's because you're not paying to stay at a five-star hotel. for what i paid a GREAT value.

This hostel was inhabited by pigs who obviously used the hostel as a quick pitstop during their pub crawls. It should definitely be noted it is NOT suitable for children with men walking through the halls and in the dorms in nothing but a towel. Children going to the toilets where vomit was left in the basins after drunks had carelessly thrown up and toilets without paper and urine covering the seats where they couldn't quite lift it in time or couldn't be bothered. Why this hostel ever got it's top ten rating - is beyond us. If you're into letting go of all inhibitions and a free for all at any cost - you'll love this one.

This is the first hostel i've stayed in and i can only say it was a pleasure, i would go back because it has everything a person on a budget needs. It's cheap and cheerful and the location is superb, 5 minutes from Temple Bar and a further 2 minutes to all the shops ...and there are many. The staff all seemed pretty sound too, very helpful with anything i asked them about. Definately the hostel i would choose if and when i go back to Dublin.
