Pretty much everything about this place is great except the location, where you're a 10 minute walk from the center of town, but surrounded by sketchy hookers. Highly recommended if you don't mind walking through that to get home.

This is really what a hostel is supposed to be. Very friendly staff and from what I could tell they were very busy and most of the occupants seemed to enjoy the stay.
We stayed in an apartment down the street. It was equipped with IKEA furniture, TV, A/C, fridge. The mattress was excellent queen size also from IKEA I believe.
It seemed that the room was recently remodeled and generally was very nice and clean.
The location is good right off of La Rambla...But the immediate is a little sketchy.

The hostel was located a short walk (five narrow streets) past the Ramblas. If you are looking for a hostel very close to the Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter its a 5-10 min walk to the heart of it all. It is a somewhat sketchy walk at night so i would reccommend you arent alone. This is how most of the ramblas is past 2 am so be aware. Breakfast in the hostel is bread and nutella chocolate sauce or boxed milk and generic corn flakes, with option of tea, instant coffee or OJ.

the location was good in that it was a few minute walk from las ramblas but it was down a really sketchy alley that made me nervous even during the day, though in the end nothing ever happened

While staying here, I met a lot of cool people and it was easy getting to places. With that said however, it is in a kind of sketchy area with prostitutes and creepy men who whisper stuff in your ears. As a girl traveling by myself, I didn't feel all that safe walking the street alone at night, but it was pretty good during the day. Also, be sure to watch your purse in this area... tons of pick-pockets. Another tip, do not listen to the directions given on the site from Placa Catalunya. It's a really long walk from there with a backpack. I would transfer to the Para-lel metro line and then walk from there. Much faster.

We actually got our own apartment down the street from the hostel, but the apartment was really clean, nice and well furnished. Both the hostel and the apartment were well located near the main plaza area and restaurants. We were near the absinthe bar where Picasso used to drink! The area can seem shady at night, but if you're not traveling alone, it is safe and can be interesting. The actual hostel was clean as far as we could tell, had free internet and breakfast, and seemed to be busy.

The hostel was in a great location, right off of La Rambla, and it was very clean with a friendly staff. It was small with alot of people however, so it could get rather noisy at times, but the atmosphere was relaxed and it felt welcoming! RECOMMENDED!!
