First time in Dublin and thanks to the city and to Barnacles i spent an unforgettable time!!!double room cosy and clean, u dont need radio or TV coz live music comes straight from the street. Breakfast is what u can expect £ 30 pppnight...toast/coffee/juice/jam enough to stuff your face. Great kitchen that's a perfect match with Tesco and Lidl on the other side of the river. Room size appropriate, clean bathroom, friendly staff. i'll definitely come back!!!recommended A+!!!

It would be nice if there were at least one public bathroom outside of the rooms in case you have to pee really badly and you're behind people who are showering or taking a long time. Also, the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor as the shower head was not adjustable. And, the water temp was hard to regulate. Aside from the bathroom issues, though, this was a great place to stay. Much better on average than others I've seen.

My first time in Dublin was spent at the Barnacles and it was great. I had a private double room with bathroom. The room was quite small (just enough room for the double bed) but I didn't care as all I was doing was sleeping there. There was also no TV or desk but just a little table chair. The bathrooms were very clean, the staff were cool, and the location was right in the heart of Temple Bar. The only problem I can see that some people may not like was all the hooping and hollering that one could hear from the surrounding bars...but that comes with the territory. If you're a light sleeper, you might not want to stay here, but it didn't bother me. It kind of added to the ambiance. Breakfast was a little sparse (toast/coffee/juice)...so if you want a traditional full Irish Breakfast (with all the eggs, meat, tomatoes etc.) you might have to go next door around the corner. The price was definitely right though. So, if you're looking for a place in the heart of the Dublin that is clean, cheap, secure...this is the place for you. If you want a place that is larger, quieter, with a big breakfast, this is not the place for you.

I have stayed in my fair share of hostels, and this one is by far one of the best. It's incredibly safe, in a great neighborhood, and has a nice kitchen and common room. My room was a 12 bed, and it was HUGE and very nice.

This was a very clean hostel, but I think it really lacked in the way of friendliness. The staff sits behind Plexiglass, and the common room is not usually that busy with other travelers. It was in an excellent location though, and I highly reccomend it for those that don't mind a 'hotel' type atmosphere.

It was absolutly too loud. The window doesn't close right. One chair for four persons.

This Barnacles did not have very much room at all; the staff was polite but not outgoing, and the rooms were not quite as clean as we could have liked. Location, however, was central.
