I feel that some of the staff could use help with regards to customer service - I was not given info re: telephone usage - was not aware that I was not able to make outgoing calls - there was a women's bathroom on the 4th floor that, when I asked for a key, I was never told that it was off limits????? and was put off re: same - the place needs some vital reconditioning - are the Board of Directors' aware what it looks like?? perhaps they should stay a few days - that might change some things -

Plus: ----- - Fun at the truely excellent fitness facility/gym next door is included for free. This is the main reason for me to stay at the Downtown Berkeley Y. - Easy to reach from the BART station. - Free WIFI connection in the rooms. Minus: - Some strange permanent inhabitants around - Cleanliness, especially of the shared bathromms should be improved. - They don't make up beds.
This was a nifty place to stay - we were on a cross-country trip, and Berkeley was our last stop before heading back east. You guys made it worthwhile! Our room was comfortable, the kitchen is very useful and the free internet is very much appreciated. Thanks a lot! -Brian & Maryann Kelly

hi, i was in berkeley YMCA in july after 9th. it was cool, good location near Bart station , 20mn for the begennin of SF, u r not always in the fog in Berkeley good city too, u have a gym, internet connection all free, a kitchen. so its better than to have a room in town. in french, c'est un bon endroit pour séjourner a san francisco meme si c'est a une distance de 20 à 30 mn en transport en commun, Berkeley est une jolie ville et c'est mieux meme que de séjourner a san francisco meme car il y a moins de clochard, d'aileurs c'est dommage de voir la ville comme sa..sinon bien accueilli, la propreté depend des gens qui l'utilise., des fois cétait un peu sale mais bon ça été..internet et salle de sport gratuit.

The Berkeley YMCA was perfect for my needs this trip. Location was great, staff was friendly and helpful. I woke up Saturday morning, looked out my window and saw the weekley Berkeley Farmer's Market setting up. There was more organic produce ( and soooo good!) than I had ever seen in one place.Getting into SF was easy since the BART station was up the street. Helene (Jamaica Plain, MA)
