I saw four mice running across the floor in my room while I was sitting on my bed. The floor was very dirty as well, and the sink leaked onto the floor.

This place was cheap, and you get what you pay for. Honestly, i would recommend spending a bit more money and staying somewhere that is not in such a bad area.

TV in our room was a bigtime plus. Too bad grocery and restaurant was not closer.

Excellent location, right by multiple public transit lines. Not too well lit at night, but still felt relatively safe near the hostel. Building is old and hot in the summer, but the convenience outweighed the funkiness of the place.

Overall, a great experience. Couldn't beat the location (we needed to be at the train station next door very early in the morning). Room was an adequate size and clean. Front desk staff was the highlight of our overnight stay here.

I have been to HI Hostels downtown and this one. I prefer HI Hostels, because it has a better location. This building is not located in downtown, you can however take the skytrain. The building is also rather old, the same can be said of the bedsheets.
