The website should indicate that no dishes are provided with the kitchen rooms so people come prepared. Location 2 blocks from the subway and just a few from the Conservatory Gardens at Central Park, but a bit of a hike to Brooklyn (via train, of course). Tiny washrooms. If you are above average size, they may be uncomfortable.

The staff was really kind, unlike those arrogant ones that I met at HI last year. Location was good, only two blocks away from the sub. The house was pretty old itself, which couldn\\\'t gaurantee perfectly safe environment, but luckily, we were safe and sound in the end. If you are looking for a four beds mixed dorm, it\\\'s really a good place to stay concerning its price and convience. Don\\\'t try the two beds private, it\\\'s not worthy.

Great place in very friendly neighbourhood. Subway is very close, so you can be at Times Square in about 15 minutes. Staff is very friendly and the shower and bathroom are modern and well cleaned daily. I felt perfectly safe there and would stay there again.

An old & very basic hostel which isn't centrally located (although it's a few streets away from the nearest Metro station). The twin room in which my travel companion & I stayed was very very small (and it only had two bunk beds), not very clean & located on 3/F of the old building which didn't have a single elevator - which meant we'd to climb the old staircase with all our heavy & bulky luggage all the way to the top!!! Also, the room was very basically furnished - the air-conditioner wasn't even working (and, believe it or not, it nearly fell down to the street when we attempted to push up the window for ventilation - only then did we notice the air-conditioner was secured to its place by having the window tightly closed). For all these we paid US$45 per person per night - which was NOT a bargain at all given that we only paid US$30 per person per night for a much better twin room (with two comfortable single beds) at a hostel which was only a few streets away from this hostel & in which we stayed for two nights prior to arriving at this hostel. (We had to move hostel since the former one was fully booked for the nights we stayed in this hostel.) Though, the showers & washrooms were clean, and the staff was very friendly & helpful.

Santos and Sabrina are wonderful and always ready to help. John from next door is very entertaining. The hostel is in a four-story brownstone-type building so it feels more like a New York home than a large hostel. Two blocks to the No. 6 subway so it is easy to get to points south in Manhattan, and Central Park is a short walk. Supermarket, laundry and convenience store are all within a block.

This was the dirtiest, most run-down hostel I've ever seen in my life. The people who run it are very nice, but I swear they must be blind if they can't see the disgusting condition of their rooms, especially the shower, which was appalling.
pretty good but far from some parts of the city. central park and subway station close by is a big plus.
I was always able to ask the staff any question I had about how to find my way around and they would give me recommendations on what to do
