I was waiting for an hour and nobody opened the closed door. I was alone in NYC and it was horrible, had to find another hotel. Also, they tell you it is near Central Park, but they don't tell you it is in East Harlem...

Great Hostel! Looked for ages on hostel sites and im glad I picked this one. We stayed there twice and had a different room each time, each was clean, spacious and comfortable with cooker, fridge/freezer, tv... towels were provided also. Owners very nice and acccomodating, nice atmosphere. Area may seem rough but we had no trouble at all everyone was really nice to us. Only 2 blocks from green line which was great!! Will definately stay here again! Also ladies if your worried about bug I didn't come across one in this hostel!! Oh and there's a mini-mart just one minute to the right as you exit the hostel.. good for groceries and atm. hard to find proper food stores in new york so it was handy.

No conformity between the description on the website and the place !!! Finally, we stayed downtown in a lovely place and not so expensive.

Everything was very clean and in good condition. The owners and hosts are very nice and helpful with every need or in fomation. We got a very small room with bunk beds, but after traveling 10 months in South America I can honestly say this was one of the better places we stayed in - the small details were there (as toilet paper available, VERY clean shared bathroom and shower - and in every level too!, hot water that wasactualy hot, a/c that actualy worked in addition to a fan, etc...). The location is not close to anything interesting, but 2 blocks from the subway in alwys good! There are some places to eat nearby, some cheap shops, no starbucks anywhere near, but laundry services and supermarkets are plenty. Overall - an enjoyable stay.

I stayed in a suite. It was nice to have a stove, oven and fridge. But a microwave oven will be more appreciated. The place is very close to metro but only #6 stop. During the peak hour, it is difficult to get on and off. No handicate access at 103rd st. stop. Not easy with a big luggage. Especailly I travelled with my 60ish mom. Good place to stay if you are a young traveler.

Excellent value (much better than Columbus Hostels for example where we stayed a couple of weeks earlier), very friendly owner. Will go back next time. The Location is okay, close to subway. For shopping and eating the westside is probably better, but I prefer a nice place to stay over a comfortable neighbourhood.
