the hostel itself is very pretty and the pool is an awesome touch. however san jose is not a place to stay more than a couple nights. going out at night really isn´t an option, but don´t worry the hostel is very safe with a guard 24/7 and they place is very clean. the in house restaurant also had good variety of food.

We had a basement room that was sparsely furnished and had a couple cockroaches. We slept with the lights on. But the staff was extremely helpful. We ended up not spending another night there as planned and booked a night at Hostel Toruma instead.

Costa Rica Backpackers was our very first hostel experience.
Our plane was over an hour late and the driver waited for us, which was so great! Upon our arrival, the staff was extremely helpful and nice.
We only stayed there for one night and half the next day, but the atmosphere was laidback and relaxing.
We'd return in a heartbeat!

I very much enjoyed my stay at the hostel. The security was great. My room was clean, and the people were very friendly. I only wish I'd packed my bathing suit, because the pool looked wonderful! Thanks for a great experience! (Oh, the restaurant had really good food as well!

not a horrible place. people are friendly. the bathrooms were pretty gross, but i think that had to do with the people staying there.

They don't keep a tab on noisy people. The one and only night we stayed there...it was noisy until 4 AM...and I got up at 5:30 AM to catch a flight. Definitely disappointing. I wouldn't stay there again.
