honestly, the most beautiful hostel I ve ever been staying at for about fiveteen years. very clean. a lot of daylight through huge windows. view at golden gate bridge and the water. within a park, located totally perfect. extreme helpful, relaxed and friendly staff. amazing breakfast included: means, fresh juice, coffee or tea, bagels or waffels, great offers for dinner as well. very clean bathrooms. large rooms. 12er dorm totally great. a large room as chillout area, enough space for plenty of people and free wifi, it was throughout the whole stay a really good place to be.

Fort Mason is such a cool location. Hostel set close to blissful parkland. And I can´t think of many other HI cafes with a view to rival the one this place has of the Golden Gate Bridge. Its just a little out of the centre but close to the bus terminus and handy for the wharf of course. Excellent cafe with cheap meals and very cool music. Would use in preference to HI Downtown for the chilled out setting.

the wharf is fine. However, my Dad had booked the weekend through Tuesday at the City Center Hostel. When I got there, they told me I couldn't have the space because I didn't have my out of state ID. They said it said so on the City Center website. My dad said that he looked through all the information on their website, and that the only thing it said that he could find was a place under "what you'll need when you arrive" where it says "a valid government ID or passport! It needs to be posted in red letters on the reservation page, because this really put me in a tight spot!!!

Trusty reliable hostel, but as is perhaps necessary with large hostels, it is full of rules.
